20 things men need to know about pregnancy
1 He is expecting too. Yes, really.

2 You’re more scared than he is. You have to get it out of there, not him.

3 His mother is not a relevant source of information.

4 If he misses the first scan, he’ll feel like he’s missed out – forever.

5 When you say you want to eat, you mean now. Not in five minutes, NOW!

6 No, it won’t touch the baby. Really, it’s fine to have sex…

7 … and, yes, there will be a post-birth sex ban until you say otherwise.

8 Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean he has to treat you like you’re a Ming vase that could smash at any second…

9 … although you should be adored for being the precious child-bearing goddess that you are.

10 Not only must he attend all the antenatal classes, he needs to discuss them afterwards, while looking interested.

11 And fainting during the birth video they show isn’t allowed.

12 A back or foot rub will always be welcome.

13 Wine boxes are cost-effective and useful for the solo at-home drinker.

14 Go out together while you still can

15 Stubbing a toe does not in any way equate to labour pains.

16 Yes, your boobs are bigger, but you still want him to talk to your face.

17 The £70 cashmere blanket is an essential baby buy.

18 His weekend fry-up does not smell delicious to anyone battling nausea.

19 It’s OK to worry about how you’llcope – financially, or otherwise.


20 Being a dad is just as important and life-changing as being a mum.
